Feering Parish Council, who we are
Feering Parish Council consists of 7 Councillors, who are elected residents of Feering and volunteer their time to look after and improve the local area, supported by a part time Parish Clerk. The Council own Feering Community Centre, Rye Mill Lane Playing Field and a piece of land on Coggeshall Road known locally as Taylors.
Feering is a lovely village with all the benefits of a rural, yet strategic location, enabling easy travel to Colchester, Chelmsford and London. Its ancient centre, located around All Saints Church, is listed in the Domesday Book although the village has grown considerably since medieval days and now stretches from the river Blackwater at the border with Kelvedon in the south, to the A120 in the north, and is home to some 1900 people. While still retaining its small, local and friendly village feel, Feering has a surprisingly large number of amenities including three thriving pubs, a country house hotel with gym and tennis centre, two churches and a well-regarded primary school.
In April 2024, Feering Parish Council became the Sole Trustee of Feering Community Centre after the Parish Council voted unanimously to take over the running of the centre.
Feering Community Centre is a much used community asset, and is home to a number of popular groups and organisations, including Feering Baby and Toddler Group, the Community Living Room Kelvedon & Feering Flower Club, Brownies, and Good Companions. It also hosts numerous birthday parties and private events each year.
